At the southwest corner of the lake, one could see caribou antlers piled up on a point, which indicated that Innu had been hunting caribou in the area for a long time. In the fall, the Innu used to camp on the south side of the lake waiting for the caribou to cross, heading toward the Red Wine Mountains. In the spring, they would camp on the north side waiting for the caribou to migrate north.
